What government is changing
In 2026 the Department of Human Settlements stated that Innovative Building Technologies are moving from experimentation into mainstream implementation, with work under way to embed them in the Housing Code, norms, standards and subsidy programmes.
Where DfMA can help
DfMA can shift repeated work into controlled production, standardise interfaces, improve traceability and shorten site assembly. For government housing, that must still sit alongside land, services, beneficiary processes, technical approvals, NHBRC requirements and procurement.
A better RDP / subsidised-housing proposition
FlexiBuild should offer more than a small house: a serviced-site and neighbourhood package that can include expandable homes, wet cores, water, sanitation, drainage, access roads, streetlighting and community facilities.
- Productised housing families rather than one universal house
- Local manufacturing and installation opportunities
- Quality evidence captured during production and assembly
- Planned future expansion
- Digital asset and handover records
